The St HOPE HARLEM scholarship awards four $10,000 scholarships each year to alumni who are
graduating from high school and attending college. The scholarship disburses $2,500 annually over the
course of a four-year college education (contingent upon the recipient maintaining good academic
standing). The purpose of this scholarship is to encourage and enable St HOPE alumni to pursue their
goals of graduating from college, and is open to students enrolling in an accredited community college,
two-year college/university, or four-year college/university.

We are pleased to announce our 2024 St HOPE HARLEM Scholarship recipients:

Dar’rel is a senior at NYC Charter High School for AECI. Fear is a motivating factor for him and he has taken on many
leadership roles throughout his high school career. In addition to maintaining a 3.7 GPA, Dar’rel has earned college credits
through a dual enrollment program at Cooper Union. He plans on furthering his architecture and interior design studies at
Syracuse University.


Marriyam is a senior at KAPPA International High School. She has a 4.0 GPA and is a CIEE Ambassador for Study
Abroad, spearheading a trip to Morocco for her high school. Marriyam has also worked with the Center for Urban
Pedagogy to explore disability access on public transportation. University of Pennsylvania will be Marriyam’s home for the
next four years where she will focus on Political Science.


Brianna is a senior at University Prep Charter High School. With a 3.52 GPA, Brianna credits the HARLEM value of
Absolute Determination for constantly pushing her out of her comfort zone. She is involved in student government and is
on the citywide E-Board for ASPIRA, and has also participated in College Now while taking AP classes. Having been
accepted to almost every single college she’s applied to, Brianna will be attending CUNY Hunter College.


Noah is a senior at the International Leadership Charter High School. He has a 4.0 GPA and lives by the “Why not?”
mentality. This has served him well as he has been involved in numerous extracurricular activities such as Afro-Caribbean
dance class. He plans on majoring in Mechanical Engineering and will be attending SUNY Maritime College.


The St HOPE HARLEM Journey Scholarship is a need-based scholarship, awarding up to $5,000 to a
rising college junior or above. The scholarship disburses $2,500 annually over the course of a two-year
undergraduate college education (contingent upon the recipient maintaining good academic standing).
The purpose of this scholarship is to encourage and enable St HOPE alumni to pursue their goals of
graduating from college, and is open to students enrolled in an accredited community college, two-year
college/university, or four-year college/university.

We are pleased to announce our 2024 St HOPE HARLEM Journey Scholarship
recipient:


Vivica is a junior at Baruch College. With a 3.1 GPA, Vivica has created her own major related to the UX (User
Experience) field. Not only has she participated in numerous hackathons as a designer, but she has also volunteered to build
web infrastructure for local nonprofits. This scholarship will allow Vivica to transition from working full-time to part-time
while completing her studies.


Last but not least, because St HOPE alums are making a huge difference in
their communities:


Jadel is the recipient of our $5,000 HARLEM Mission Scholarship. Jade is a senior at Classical High School, an exam
school in Providence, RI. Jade has a GPA of 3.7 and is ranked 81 out of 300 in her graduating class. She has completed a
summer internship at Brown University, has taken several AP classes, and is involved in basketball, volleyball, tennis,
softball, and the Spanish Committee. Jadel credits St HOPE for her successes and will be taking her talents to Roger
Williams University.


Madison is the recipient of our $500 Lauren Tannenbaum Book Award. Madison is a senior at the Urban Assembly New
York Harbor School on Governors Island. Madison has a 3.0 GPA and is busy cultivating oysters in the Hudson River as
part of her senior project. A leader inside and outside of the classroom, Madison dreams of traveling to Cuba to learn more
about the island’s marine ecosystems. Madison will be attending Montclair State University with the goal of becoming a
Marine Veterinarian.
